what parts would i need to get if i get a s/c that came off a 5spd? I heard ecu, egr, is that correct? anything else?

i wont say "i tried to search but couldn't find anything" or " i'd thought i'd ask you guys instead of asking the stealership".

The truth is, I didn't search at all so blow me.

Thanks in advance

SEARCH.....hahaha....if I remember correctly, the biggest thing would be the egr tube. I don't think the ecu needs to be swapped.

Too lazy to search. Im just not sure if the egr tube has to be something TRD specifically made for the s/c or if its one of those egr tubes i see online everywhere. If it is the TRD case which I think, I highly doubt i'd be able to find one and I have no idea what my options are then.

So as of right now, seems like I just have to worry bout the egr tube unless someone else can shine some light on this.

Find some one who has one and try to duplicate it.
Compare it to the auto tube and see the difference.
If you do you could probably make some cash by selling extra ones on the forum. :D
Does anyone have a manual one laying around??

Rich, the idler plate assembly may be different as well.

edit: I was comparing the sienna plate to the solara plate...the plates you are comparing should be the same.

EGR Tube, no need for a 5 speed ecu...

But is the egr tube really needed? You should be able to just block off the two holes, add a resistor in the egr plug to simulate a slightly higher intake temp, and be good to go.

I hear ya Rich....takes you about two hours to find what you want using the search. Did you try contacting that guy who was selling his supercharger in the for sale section? Might be able to grab his, tranny dependant of course. You could also try contacting TRD and see if they have the schematics on the egr tube to see if you can get one made if your out of luck. Just my .02 cents

what hskrsolara said ;)

that, and technically, you could probably use some sort of bend-able metal tubing (that can take heat) and run it from the exhaust port to the egr

but long story short, no need for an egr (except for emissions....but that's what "funny" shops are for)

as for the ecu- no need for an ecu. the 5spd and auto uses the same ebc- they're just wired up differently.

5spd = no boost at rev limiter
auto = no boost at rev limiter, no boost between gears, no boost in first gear

I beg to differ. This "rumor" has been floating around since the SC came out, and its been debated over and over, but I have an auto SC with EBC hooked up and I absolutely have boost in 1st gear. I have a boost gauge to confirm it.

The only logical explanation is that there are two revisions to the EBC. One which cut boost, and one which allowed it.

I still do not have boost between gears or above redline

^ wouldn't be surprised

there were two editions of the supercharger as well

and there is no problems with having boost in first gear as long as boost is cut between the shift to second- the second gear sprag is supposed to be the weak point of our trannys

and personally, I have boost in 1st gear because the ebc does not work with my gen3 camry tranny comp

I would not advise running without the EGR tube. I remember reading one of the MR2 guys was doing this, but I think he was using different engine management.

^^Why not, as long as the holes are plugged you arent losing vaccum pressure and you are actually lowering inake air temperature, so there shouldn't be a risk of burning up valves.

As long as you dont have to pass emissions, you should be fine. The only function of the egr tube is to carry exhaust gasses from the exhaust manifold back into the intake, increasing intake air temperature and lessening fuel demand at cruising speeds, thus increasing fuel atomization and lessening emmissions. So, you may lose a little mpg on long trips, but shouldnt have problems outside of that.
