crisperation for the storm... UPDATE!

Postby woa_its_j3ff » Wed Feb 14, 2007 12:05 pm

you should've seen yesterday's snow shower. I think in the chicago area we've had maybe 2 feet? maybe. either way it's not the end result that sucked, it's just the snow falling continuously all day with the wind carrying it around. :(
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

^^^ Yeah, same here... NOT the deepest snow... only about a foot most places... but an actual total of around 15". The wind wasn't just GUSTING... it was CONSTANT for about 36 hours... the snow was SO dry and cold, it was like a DUST most of the storm... just BLOWING all over the place. Drifting got around two feet, some places more... but because there was so little MOISTURE in the snow, it didn't really "accumulate" like a HEAVY, WATER-RICH snow would have... That was GOOD 'cause it didn't STICK to the trees and powerlines, and we didn't have as big an issue with power loss in the area... always one of my bigger concerns. (I have a decent generator now, so at least I'm ready for a couple/few days...)

You come from Florida huh ?? :P

It's for the wiper doesn't freeze on the windshield.

LOL! I lived in Western New York for 27 years, I know winter. That's what the defroster is for. Besides, you can loosen them up when they are frozen, no problem. :D Don't assume a Florida guy doesn't know winter

^^^ You are both right... however...

When you leave them against the windshield and they "freeze", although you can run the car with defrost to "loosen" them, this would preclude brushing the snow/scraping the ice off "right away".... AND... the wipers tend to become "hardened" and less "pliant" and therefore less "effective" if they are against the windshield and "frozen" there. (I always let the engine warm up before I take off, so the defrost WOULD be working... however, I also like to REMOVE alot of the snow and ice first, as "defrosting" it just makes it melt temporarily, and introduces a LOT of water that will re-freeze around the wipers, windshield-to-hood tray, etc...)

...also... I like to think I'm doing THE LEAST of a favor for my solara since it has to sit out in the weather in the FIRST place! :-?

(Jerry, I KNEW you had lived up here before... so I had you "read" with respect to that... 8) )

Oh yeah... MUCH better gas mileage! (Those STOCK mufflers are EXTREMELY constricting... like farting out of a "stir-stix" straw...) With MY setup, you are blowing hot air out a BAZOOKA-sized "fart-can"...

...yup... crisp can "RICE" with the BEST of 'em... 8)

BTW, I haven't had it on a dyno....YET, but as soon as we can find one that will mount caterpillar treads securely... :o

(Surrogate calculations have indicated NEARLY 1.3 GIGOWATTS at the CRANK!)

Note: Don't forget! Drivetrain losses are MUCH LESS on my snowblower than on 'yer average DODGE RAM TRUCK! :o

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

Although it was a faded white with what seemed to need a new CV boot and occasionally ground when going into reverse, those trucks were fun on the streets, but I never off-roaded on a Pickup before (that must be extra fun then).

That's a very close cousin to my "non-ragtop-season" vehicle.
Mine's a '95.

P.S. "Tiny Taco" would be more appropriate.
P.P.S. Yotatech.com is the best (most active) forum for our truck. Tried to get cp-e to do a MAF conversion kit for our 3.slow but they bauked at putting a 210k donor truck on the dyno.

AHA!! So THAT'S why you're not working on the window sequence board lately! ;)

Meanwhile - mid-70's here and I'm getting a tan this week cruising topless down PCH every day! :D Hehe...

But... with every silver lining comes a cloud too - look at all the crazy MoFos I have to drive around with here as well!! :o
