Moon roof drain holes...

Moon roof drain holes...

Postby macster » Thu Feb 15, 2007 10:16 pm

Hey guys...I'm having a bit of an issue. It rained cats and dogs last weekend. Saturday morning, I opened the driver's side door, and there was a puddle of water in the driver's side front floor area. Windows were shut, there was no water on the seats or anything - completely isolated to the floor.

I called a service advisor, and when I told him my situation, the first thing he asked in response was "Does it have a moon roof?"

Of course it does, so he tells me that most likely one or both of the drain holes for the moon roof are blocked. So I investigate for myself, and it seems as if the one on the driver's side is blocked. We blasted air through the passenger side hole, and I can hear the air coming out of the bottom of the car, but I can't feel it.

Where is the end of the drain tube? I'd like to try to take care of this myself, to avoid an exorbitant bill on something so seemingly simple.
Any advice?

Thanks
Eric

The ends are behind the rear tires. If you open your trunk and lift up the carpet where the spare tire jack is and under that youll see a clear tube and on the other side of the trunk there is another tube and thats the drivers side.

I was talking about the 2 small holes in the front corners. I actually didn't know about the ones in the rear.

i believe the tubes run behind the kick panels, I've seen where the tubes can get pushed back up into the car and it just drains it all over the floor. good luck

You've seen it? What can I do to fix it? If it's not too difficult...

If the tubes got pushed out of the floor and they're just emptying onto the carpet you can just put the tubes back through the hole in the floor

Ive always wondered what those tubes were, at first I thought it was the gas line, but that would be stupid...
