Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

Sidemarker wont turn on.

Sidemarker wont turn on.

My driver side marker is weird. It wont turn on when the headlights are on. Looks pretty ghetto with one side working and the other side not working.

Sometimes it does turn on by itself after I start driving. Its actually an aftermarket housing with bulbs that I replaced 2 years ago because the old one was cracked. I didn't realize this until now.

What do you think it is?

haha, well thanks guys. A joke on a joke...I was confused there for a moment.

I'll test this out, but its not the blinking itself that I am concern about...it blinks when I turn the blinker on, but the problem is that the light doesn't turn on along with the headlights.

If I can't find any DIY on replacing this fluid I'll be coming back to you two for instructions! lol

Well, you might want to check the API of the lighting module with a data tester... If it shows 0X119485686845044-E-45309824 on line 29, then that means you have the outdated version, so you'll need to take it back to your dealer and have the ECU reflashed with a new SDK module on an X64 platform instead of an X32 due to a binary I/O control issue to convert it from hexadecimal code to ASCII. Since this is not a TSB issue yet since Toyota engineers just found out about it 2 weeks ago, you might need to pay up and be stuck a week without a car.

Once you get it back, make sure the code is 0X119485686890044-E-49809850, which corrects the issue...

...Or dismiss it as another wisecrack and try changing the bulb. Since the corner lights are usually dual filament, sometimes the sidemarker beam would go out while the blinker filament is intact, since 2 years sounds about right knowing the quality of bulb-making these days  ... If not, you might need to check your electrical system.

**NOT TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT**
By the way lilm111, have you found out who the girl in your av is yet? I want to say it's Kaila Yu, but I'm not sure since it shows your av as "mia1.jpg".

Thanks Nefarious!

I didn't realize both Funboy and Lilm were just messing with me regarding that blinker fluid. I actuallly went to the auto store searching for it. Then I realized what they were up to after looking through some past posts.

I replaced the bulb and it is perfectly fine now (thank goodness I didn't have to take it to the dealer to fix this). Your explanation really helped. I didn't know that these bulbs are duel filaments. If I did then I probably would have gone and replaced the bulb already.
