Toyota recommends N20?

Received a coupon in the mail from my local dealer for a "Nitrogen Tire Service" for $39.95.

"Improve fuel economy, increase tire life, impove handling and braking by installing nitrogen in your vehicle tires. We will deflate your tires to atmospheric pressure, vacuum detrimental air and moisture from your tires, reinflate with a high purity nitrogen, providing the benefits listed."

I've heard about it but never considered it, seems to do a whole lot, almost too good to be true, anyone done it? Is $40 even a good price for 'it'?? Feedback. Jon.

p.s. if I get it done can I get a NOS decal?? :roll:

from what i heard its only good in real cold winter or like in the moutnains where you got different air pressure .. beside that not really any use for it i guess

I've heard of racers running all kinds of different gases in their tires (my favorite was helium in the front tires of a rwd drag car), but from what I've read on the subject, you'd be hard presed to notice a difference on the street. I think the N2O would keep tire temps down a bit, but wow! What a waste of 40 bucks! Spend that money on synthetic trans lube or something...

$31.47 (IIRC, I haven't had a bottle filled in so long... :cry:

) for a 10 lb. bottle at murrays speed and custom in west palm beach. It's pretty much an average of $3/lb give or take some change most places you go. On the spot fills at the track I'm sure are more expensive.

I think you guys are confusing NOS (Nitrous Oxide - or N2O) with pure Nitrogen - which is what they're filling tires with - not NOS!

Pros/cons about it from what I've read int he past. Depends on how tight you wanna hang on to that $40 I guess. :roll:
