I just installed my new coilovers and for a quick test run since it started raining i hear a grinding noise. Can anyone tell me what its coming from? Its only from the front, I didn't have time to do the rears. I cant think of what can be causing this. Any help would be appreciated Since I'll be taking it apart tomrorow anyways to make it lower.

Thanks in advance

Try to be more specific about the noise. It's coming from both of the fronts? Left AND Right? or only one of them? How bout WHEN you hear the grinding noise. Is it a constant sound? Or only at low speed? only at high speed? The condition of the roads when you hear it? Only when you're going over bumps? or over dips? Or is it all the time? smooth AND bad roads? try to be more descriptive

yeah im gonna get an alignment next week but im gonna lower it some more tomorrow and hopefully figure out whats causing the grinding noise. my intuition is telling me it has something to do with the brake dust shield. just wondering if anyone else has any ideas

If it was the brake shield, you must've messed up somewhere REAL bad :o

Recalling my install, I don't think there's really anything for the shield to rub against if everything goes right.

The only thing I can think of is if the hub fell too fast when you removed the last bolt, hit the ground, and dented the shield and now the shield is rubbing the brake rotor.

Other than that, I can't think of a way for the shield to cause some kind of problem.

the shield never hit the ground since this was the 2nd time i did my suspension. i had a hydraulic jack under the brake rotor while i was taking out the bolts. probably the jack pushed the shiled into the brake rotor and i just have to "pop" it out?

Hey Rich,

That would be my best guest as well. During your installation you must have pushed the dust shield against your rotor. Go check it out and see first. I am pretty sure that is whats doing it.

I don't think you will rub on anything else since the flt a1 and a2 are identical as far as structure goes...

If you need some more help just feel free to send me a PM...
