I am interested in how a RWD converted car would drive after all the fabrication it'd need to work. I know there are a few out there that people have actually done (v8 lex motor in a celica comes to mind) but after all the stuff you need to do, if you're off by a half degree here, an eigth of an inch there...

I've heard of waaaaay to many super-projects like this that get scrapped after 2 years and $20k, probably because one they got it on the road it drove sideways.

And even tho FWD basically sucks for performance, there is a turbo 1mz on this board pushing ~320 to the front... I think that's enough of a sleeper, don't you?

Damn, you beat me to saying it. Those who know how to do it would not bother. (Sorry)

If you want a sleeper car that's easy to make a rediculous swap, try a Mazda Miata. It's already RWD and Ford V-8s have been shoehorned in place. Put in a Cobra independent rear suspension and a custom stubby driveshaft and you have a killer pocket rocket that can be done on a budget.

You still need to stiffen up the chassis, but atleast it's possible. It's too much work for the return on investment to try and convert a heavy FWD unibody to a RWD with a high torque engine.

Good luck in your quest. Not meaning to be a smart donkey, but spend time looking for a project that someone else has already done before. Talk to that person and learn from their mistakes and experience. It will be much cheaper in the long run.

Well, if a Last Gen Celica can be converter into AWD with a 3SGTE, and a Yaris Can be made RWD with a tacoma 4cyl engine.... Well you know the rest.

How deep are your pockets?

---Or just get an M roadster... Even if somebody got a Miata that is powerfule to smoke a Bugatti Veyron, I'm hard-pressed to believe anybody that drives those things are heterosexual; I swear it's like I'm staring at a Miata car meet when I'm in Hollywood sometimes. Not being a smart-arse or anything, but that's one of several cars I try to persuade people from getting.
