Search around & get the TRD kit if you can find one. The other kits are made of fiberglass which is a lot more prone to crack on you. GL!

TRD is just a lip kit, and attaches to the stock bumpers.
This is the space where I should write something witty or clever, hoping to show some personality.

Insurance won't replace? If not buy the bumper from eBay or something then sometime later find the TRD body kit. It's still 500% better than other's. If you do have a taste for the other kits, do what you desire. GL.

Ins. will replace. I just rather go ahead and replace it with a body kit if possible rather than factory. ALL the kits are fiberglass?

All the aftermarket kits are fiberglass for the Solara. The factory TRD one is not. Looks great IMO & well worth the wait to find one.

i had the SAME attitude as you when my bumper starting getting f*cked up from various scratches and dents. having to put on the fiberglass kit is frustrating to say the least. TIME + MONEY. i'd say just have insurance get an OEM bumper and look into getting a TRD kit.

less of a headache in the longrun.

It depends on what kind of look your going for. If you want to look like everybody else, go with a stock kit. If you want to stand out go with an aftermarket kit. Also fiberglass doesnt crack that easy. I have a fully molded kit and its fiberglass with no cracks. Daily driven

I just went ahead and put the car in the shop to have the stock bumper replaced if need be cause it's not that bad. I'll get a pic up tomorrow of the damage. It's costing me $620 IF the shock absorbers need replaced. A little less than it would for one of those fiberglass body kits + installation. I've always liked the TRD kit so i'm gonna hold out.
