FROM THE Y PIPE THREAD You Wrote

funboy102 wrote:good pics... so how much did it cost you to fix it Midias? and, what exactly are the parts you listed for? FEL-PRO part number 60674 catalytic converter gasket for mercury villager v6 183 cu inch AND EL-PRO 60679 from a 1985 Mazda V6 what for? thanks

You can order them at advance auto parts

Then I wrote

midias wrote:Q: so how much did it cost you to fix it Midias?
A: $100 even done with stainless steel rod and proper gas

Q: what exactly are the parts you listed for?
I. FEL-PRO part number 60674 catalytic converter gasket for mercury villager v6 183 cu in
II. FEL-PRO 60679 from a 1985 Mazda V6

A:
I. For the flange connection between the stock manifold and the y pipe it requires you open one hole up about a 1/16 I did it with some snips. IT is a perfect metal gasket with a non rust covering on the outside.

II. For the flange between the y pipe and a catalytic converter OR the Y pipe and the test pipe.

You need 2 of each.

I could not get the larger of the 2 60679 to fit the connection between the Y pipe and the manifolds.

you need min the two 60674 to mate the Y pipe to the stock manifolds the other two are for a cat or test pipe you do not have to have them but you will prob have an exhaust leak so just get them. 2 of each.

here are the two gaskets

yup you got it you should get 2 of each. But double check if the catback that goes off the end of the cat or test pipe has a flange similar to the size of the manifold get 3 small and 1 large otherwise 2 of each.

the small one is the 60674 (mercury villager) one right? So if i'm planning on sticking with stock diameter piping, by 3 60674 (1 for each row of cylinders, and 1 for after the y-pipe) and one of the large, 60679, for between the y-pipe and the test pipe right? But if i'm going aftermarket 2.5" piping, then two of each right?

think I got it... thanks

((what IS the stock piping diamter after the cat? i'm guessing 2"?))
