I know that SolaraSweetie had the remote start. She said she had some problems with it, but I dont remember what specifically they were...

**Edit, here is the topic that applies, the part about the remote start problems are about halfway through the thread… http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=29902

No...Unless you really trust that e-brake cause you'll have to park it in neutral all the time.

If you have a manual car and you decided to get a remote starter, is there anything else you need other than the remote start kit/alarm system? I remember someone telling me that you need this by-pass for it, but i could be wrong...

If you have a manual transmission, be sure you get a remote start that is designed for a manual transmission car. I am an installer and have an alarm/remote start on my Gen 1 5spd. Its designed so the car wont start unless you "set" it when you park. I would strongly advise (from a few personal experiences) to get an alarm/start built for a 5spd.
As far as a bypass module goes - it depends if you have a transponder key or not.

Well the auto one senses your car in park thru the neutral safety switch which a manual transmission car doesnt have. The manual remote start requires you to engage the e-brake, then put the remote start in "pit stop" mode (engaging the remote start while the car is running - also referred to as remote take-over). Then you remove the key (the car still running) and exit the vehicle. When you hit the lock/arm button, the car shuts off and arms the alarm. If the door is opened any at any time before you remote start the vehicle, it wont work since its possible you may have put the car in gear. So to answer your question, it really doesnt sense that the vehicle is in neutral - it just requires you to "set" it when you park.

I had it. Worked just fine. Only thing I can say is dont lend the keys to anyone because they can accidently set it off. You can also fail safe it by adding a switch that advoids autostart when you dont want it to or lending the car to someone else.
