(Update) Projector HID Fog 3000K Completed!

Postby tacti » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:01 pm

I just got finished the first step of my latest project.

Projector HID Fog Lights with 3000K bulb.
I was expecting relatively easy project.
However, as usual (least for me) nothing would be easy project...
feel like (and probably actually did) took me whole weekend for this..
Special thanks to Mike T for all the help and letting me work in his garage, as well as those pictures... (I haven't took any pictures yet.. )

It's hard to tell on the picture, but the fog light is so bright, that I needed to point all way down not to blind people on the road...

My next step is to cover the surrounding area with mesh so that it won't look ghetto... ^^;

<NEW UPDATE!!>
Finally My project completed by adding a housing around the fogs.
I used a housing for home lighting (bought at Homedepot for $10/each)
It came white, so painted black and added black trim.
also, I have repainted caliper and engine cover, and added backup sensor and camera as well

Thanks guys.
I'll post the pics once i'm done with the mesh around the fog.
however, probably it will be later this week...

for the parts, i got just a generic projector fog, and installed it.
i was looking for something close to the stock fog size, but couldn't find any... that's why i came up with mesh around the fog.

as for HID, i just needed to pick a bulb that fit to the fog (easy enough..)

however, took me so long just because of the wiring.
i didn't want to cut into the factory fog light lines, i made a harness that fit to the H10 socket.
however, when i finish installation and all the wiring, i found that there were not enough power, and one side did not light up.

I went (or actually Mike took me) to buy a relay.
after all, it was a good idea, so that i could make it as a indepandent fog light.
i can turn on and off whenever i want as lon as the accesory is on.

well.. and for the underbody, I like it.. i know some people may call it rice, but I tried to install it as clean as possible, and i think i did pretty good job on that ^^;
yep, for each their own taste, but i really appreciate your comments!

well, i just wanted to have projector fogs.

I know the factory fog will fill the opening really well, and I like the look, but i wanted to do something different.

and on the blue print in my head, the new fog with mesh should look good :drinking:

so... we'll see....

I think now you really should have matching yellow neon underneath since the fogs are so predominant! ;)

Will be interesting to see how your "mesh" trick turns out - seems like a hella big hole for such a tiny li'l light now! :o

I'll take some close up pics, and hopefully finish the mesh around the fogs tonight.

however, when I test fitted a card board yesterday, i am not sure if i really like the look or not..
we'll see how it looks, and if it doesn't look right, i have a second idea.. :wink:

and yes, i do have multi color, and i can (or suppose to) make it yellow. however, i can't tell the color very well, so i need to ask someone which color is a really matching yellow... :roll:

oh well...
