tint

Postby SLEv6 » Tue Apr 01, 2003 9:19 pm

I went to a tint shop by house... and they said it would be about $130. Is that a good price?

Im thinking of going either 35% or 20%.... Actually, the place I went to just had 4 shades.... 1,2,3,4.... 1 being lightest and 4 being darkest.Im debating between 2 or 3 (or checking another shop)... hmmm?

That's a great price for 5 windows. What warranty are they offering and what brand of film?

I'm getting my windows tinted tues and am either going to go with 28%, 30%, or 35% all the way around. I have a black Solara. What do you think would look best? I'm leaning towards 28 and I defintely don't want to go lower than that.

Speaking from experience (just got 35% front/22%rear), I'd say go w/ the 28 all around. I really wanted 22 all around, but the guy at the shop convinced me to do the combo. Now I regret it. The 35 is really light, but the 22 is just right for me (some people might say a little dark).

I think the 28 would be the perfect compromise...not too dark not too light. I really don't think you'd regret it.

I have 35% as well. Like the boys who know it said, it's dark enough to notice and be practical and "cool looking" but the cops tend to not grab gawk everytime you drive by them as well. Although the shine off my chrome rims usually does get their attention. heh.

Thanks everyone - Just dropped it off today and tomorrow I'm getting 28% all around. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like! Now All I need is my new wheels/tires and the upgrades are pretty much complete :D Luckily I'm on the cops good side here so I shouldn't have to worry about getting a ticket for my tint

the tinting laws here in ohio is 50% all around, except the windshield (no tinting allowed). my question is, how strict are the cops?

i know someone who has mirrored tinting all the way around, and he gets pulled over every once in a while. i know other people with tints as dark as 10% without any trouble.

my question is, if i get pulled over with something like 35%, will i be required to remove my tints? how do they cops know what level it is? do they pull out some gadget to measure?

i hate cops

I love it so far! It turned out great...I think 28% all around on a black Solara looks great. Plus it's not too dark at all from the inside. Now I just need to let all those little bubbles settle out. Hopefully it won't take too long. Thanks again for the input - I'm glad I went with the 28%.

You guys seen the lexus silver tint that comes from the factory on the rx SUV? that tint is legal and the hootest crap is when you get silver fading into black at the top. Gimme 3 weeks and ill post the pics. im sure youll love it. But here in mass it is illegal to tint below 35% but im ging for silver to 20%. And metioned above the cops have a laser the bring up to the window, if the find it to dark the give u a ticket and a scraper and have to scrpae it off. It happed to my bro twice in maine. Maine cops are bastards about it.

It all depends on the cop. What are the local laws?
