On the way home from the pizzeria tonite, I went to turn up the heat, and realized I couldn't see it all that well. I have a stock Manual (not digital) entire Center Console, and its just the one section by the Temp Setting Knob and the one to the right that controls where the ventilation comes from that is darkened. I'm wondering if there is a light behind there that is burned out? How easy would it be to replace? Thanx.

I don't have an answer to your question but I have the same problem, sounds like in the same spot too. If you figure anything out let me know - David

That is/was the same problem with 5th Gen celica's, it supposed to be a bulb behind the console!

Haha, the same exact thing has happened to me recently. It's happening to me on the left portion of the HVAC controls. If you tap on it, it usually comes on. There's either a loose bulb or connection back there. I need to take it apart when I get time.

I had the same problem with my 90 celica auto, the PRND21 wouldn't light most of the time. One time, leaving a rest stop I put it in 2 instead of D. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get above 50.

I also had the same problem but I tapped on it one time and ever since then it's been working.

Flash,

if the lights in the AC/heater are burned out, you could replace them easily.

Just a moment ago, I was trying to change the light bulbs in there. I opened the AC/heater housing without any difficulty. However, these two lights in there are not 194.

They're the same kind as 194 bulbs but much smaller (like half an 194 size). They're the clear bulb with the green plastic cover.

I took couple of pictures of how to open the AC/heater housing. If you need, I'll post the pics up tomorrow.

btw, is anyone out there know the size of these light bulbs in the AC/heater housing??

Thanks
Fenix

Here they are..

Assuming you have SE v6 2000 like mine.

after you take the dash out (normal way when you change your stereo head unit), you will see this:

Image

To see 1 and 2, just take the knob and full toward you (very easy), you will have to open 1,2, 3, 4 and another 4,5 on the other side.
Then with this picture

Image

Just put your index finger where 1 and 2 (once at the time) to pull up toward your head, then you will be able to access to the bulb in this pic

Image

Just take the bulbs and pull out, color them with red Sharpie pen or do whatever you want with it.

If they're the same as in the gen4 camry, then they're only available from the dealer AFAIK. They're about 2 bucks each, so handle them carefully. :D

You can try the following P/N's: (sorry, the invoice just says "bulb")

9001001002
9001001003
9098111018 <-- I think it's this one

These three P/N's are for the two bulbs behind the HVAC, the single bulb in the ashtray, and the single bulb for the PRND2L console panel.
