knock sensor

Postby DavPak » Sat May 10, 2003 5:36 am

the warranty on the knock sensors is 3yr/36K. WITH OR WITHOUT A SUPERCHARGER. although your s/c retains the factory 5yr/60K powertrain warranty, other parts which it may effect still have the same warranty as they would without a supercharger.
as far as TSB's go, TRD doesn't make any TSB's for stuff related to their parts.

BTW, nick you said you went out and bought "hamms," what the heck is that?!! maybe we just don't have it in NJ!

Thanks for the info DavPac
Hamm's is a really cheap beer that you can buy at albertsons in Ca (better than pabst but basicly the same thing). It tastes like water and gets you wasted if you drink enough. Me and my buddy each ended up drinking 15 last night. The best thing is its so light I did not even have a hangover.

Unless you're just into trying every beer out there, you'd probably be a lot happier spending a few extra bucks and drinking something with a little flavor. :D

Those beers were OK when I was 18 years old and just looking to get a cheap high. If you enjoy the taste of beer, don't bother with this pisswater.

I usually drink Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but this weekend I was being cheap. I can justify drinking crap since I'm only 22 and still in school.

if I run the stock pully.. I won't have any problems with the knock sensor right? I should be in the clear with all these other things?

You should be OK. Almost everyone who has had problems with the knock sensors have had smaller pulleys.

Yep I blew my knock sencer also!! I live in south FL. The guy that tuned my S-AFC leaned it out to much, it was 13 to 1 Air/fuel. Eric said that for a everday driver 12 to 1 would be fine.
But anyway Toyota wont cover the work under warrenty, because of my S-AFC. So I have to try and hide it , and hope some other toyota dealer will do the work.

Damn Toyota I kept bugging them to try and get them to fix it for free, but they said the knock sensors were not covered, they never even noticed my S-afc because it's in my glovebox. I have decided that I'm going to buy the parts for $350 and change the knock sensors my self and save nearly $700 in labor.

How much money did toyota tell you it was going to be?
The toyota in my town quoted me$650 out the door.
but today I took it in and they said that it was working fine, because it was reading bank 1 and bank 2,
My CEL only comes on when i hit 4-5 thousand rpms. And when I drive it nice for a coulple of days it turns off. But as soon as I hit high RPM's it comes back on.
So I am going to redyno-tune, check my fuel pressure, check my low-throttle( S-AFC) with a OBII scaner, Make sure my timing is at the right degrees. And then I'll probley change out my knock sense. Last resort!
OH, and my car only idles at like 500rpm.
One day this will all be fixed :o
