Last weekend I got rid of my 99 Solara SE v6, my dad wanted to get me a new car so we went to this used car dealer around me that has good cars. Well to make a long story short, I wound up buying a 2000 3.2 Acura TL. I must say that I thought the Solara was a great car, this car is AMAZING, has everything... even a body kit too..

It's been great being a part of this forum. I want to thank everyone for their help...

You are talking about two different classes of cars. The Acura is a beautiful car but just wait until you need scheduled maintence. It'll be 3x the price of the toyota. The solara is a great car for the money, but of course the acura, which costs more, will be a little more luxorious

I quote my friend... I agree to a certain extent.

Hondas (including Acuras) have no soul. They wander around searching for more to be accepted by normal society. Toyotas, and Lexus, have a soul. They do not need anything else to gain acceptance; they are accepted as is.

Well, he said something to that effect...

The TL Type-S is nice for about $4-8k more (depending on options) than the Solara, but it still yearns for aftermarket parts to feel at home. I wanted a TL at first, but you can get better for the cash (G-35) :D

But nonetheless, it's still a nice car
1GR-FE ftw!

I had my heart set on a '02 Acura CL-S until I read about all the tranny problems they were having. Hope I didn't rain on your picnic!

I'm going through the same thing. I'm thinking very seriously about getting rid of my Solara, and getting a G35 coupe. I have really enjoyed my Solara, and have done a lot of performance upgrades, but the basic design of the car limits it's possibilities.

I'm not too far behind on you with that decision. But it's gonna be the Toyota equivalent competitor to the G35 most likely for me. :D

Which car are you referring to, Ryan? IS300, or something new?

I think he means whatever comes out to be the G35's competitor. Toyota is lagging on its sports car... so, if they decide to make one, it will hopefully kick all the other sports car's keisters (lol keisters!!)

Yep.

And for HP problems...nothing but a little boost can cure that stock 2JZ-GE. :D There are a handful of good kits out and the upcoming PLP (Xerd) S/C.
