Driver seat wouldn't go back.

Driver seat wouldn't go back.

I just bought a 2000 Solara v4 w/ 61K miles for only $3700 salvage title so there's a few things wrong with it. I was hoping you guys can help me. The driver seat has power but only one side of the seat (right) would go back so it looks crooked also. It makes a grinding noise if i try to force it more.

Now I'm not a tall guy (5'8") and its not comfortable for me.

There is a flexable metal rod, covered in rubber, about 8" long that located near the front, if its not there or poped out then thats your problem.

Happened to me, pushed my seat all the way forward where a pair of shoes were and it ran them over, poping it out.

It will be a lot easier taking the seat out (4) bolts, and unplugging a wire connector or two. and poping it back in. You will have to bend the rod a lot, might look like its gonna break but i think its pretty flexable...hopefully its there, otherwise check a junk yard.

Thank you so much. That was the problem after all. I forgot to mention i found an odd looking rod under the seat but didn't think anything of it.

You'll see two small square looking female points where the bar goes in, the bar goes in from left to right along the car...not front to back.

You'll see it. Put one end in, then bend the other end till you get it to go in.
