Spark Plug Question

Spark Plug Question

Postby SolaraGuy22 » Sun Mar 25, 2007 2:34 pm

I'm about to buy a set of Denso PK20TR11 spark plugs and wanted to know if that'll be okay with my CPE?

I know some of you guys mention using IK20 or even IK22 for modified rides. I've searched and I'm about to go nuts with all the threads so I figured I'd add another one.

I only ask because of the sticker on my hood:

Does that mean I can only use the PK20TR11

Thanks

I just bought some of those PK20TR11's (IR20s) on ebay for $36 shipped, for six. THey will work with the IMZ's and Im sure they will work with your CPe, dont know why not.

Denso K20TR11 ~$2.25 and NGK BKR6EKPB-11 ~$11.70 are also multi-ground plugs...

Do you have the same sticker on under your hood? I think they might have changed it up when they went to gen 1.5 but who knows.

LMK because I'm going to be buying one or the other tomorrow night!

IGNORE the sticker!

DON'T use platinum if you want BEST performance... (they just LAST longer than conventional plugs, but DON'T conduct as good as copper, iridium, or SILVER.)

NO issues with CP-e.

Transverse mounted V6 cars are usually HARDER to service due to the difficulty in reaching rear-bank of plugs. SERVICE MANUALS set the recommended SERVICE INTERVAL accordingly, FURTHER APART, thereby necessitating the STICKER requiring PLATINUM or LONG LIFE plugs...

Just don't wait a million miles to change your plugs. You can use ANY proper length/thread plug of good quality and correct temperature rating that way.

My personal opinion... STAY AWAY from GIMMICKS like SPLITFIRE/MULTI-GROUND, etc, etc....

DENSO
NGK
BERU

Are some good brands to stick with...

I consider the BERU SILVERSTONE plugs as OUTSTANDING, but have ONLY used them on my SUPRA to date. They DO NOT last as long as other plugs, but with my hot ignition setup in an INDUCTED car, they brought NOTICABLE HORSEPOWER AND RESPONSE GAINS! :o

^^^ I don't know if there is a SILVERSTONE suited for out SOLARA, but when I change my plugs soon, if there IS, I'm using them FOR SURE.
