Tool to fill transmission oil on a 5 spd 99 Solara V6?

Postby PTSOLARA » Wed Mar 28, 2007 12:35 am

I have a 5 speed Solara V6.

My transmission oil is leaking from the gasket (slow leak). Mechanic said it will take a lot of labor to fix this issue (something like taking the transmission out and reseal). So i was recommended to hold this off until i am ready to perform other major transmission work (like replacing the clutch).

In the mean time, i want to make sure i have enough fluid in the transmission. I have located the trans fill plug under the engine. But....how do i get the fluid into the transmission? The fill plug sits vertical to the ground and i think i need some sort of a tube to force the fluid into it.

Help!!!

What I do is unplug the filling hole... then locate the breather on the top of the transmission that can be seen from the engine bay... I took that out and filled from the top till it came out the fill hole

Where is the breather?

Postby PTSOLARA » Wed Mar 28, 2007 9:21 pm

SCV6, Do you have pictures of where that breather thing is? (sorry i don't work on my car that much).

This sounds like a plan. If that doesn't work then i will use Midias' idea of squeezing oil into the fill hole.

How do you know it is full, do you fill the oil till it leaks out?

It is full when fluid comes out of the fill hole
