Fog Lamps

Fog Lamps

Postby Klubiceman2 » Wed May 14, 2003 11:47 am

Hey all.

I'm new to this forum so I hope someone here can help me. Well recently yesterday i was work on the passenger fog lamp for my 01 solara. I replacing the plug, I stripped the wires as needed and tied them off. I had the bulb working for a min. Then I went to tape off the ends and then both lamps went out. The other one was working fine now I got two dead bulbs. I was thinking I blew out a fuse, at least i hope it was that simple. I hope i didn't blow out something else.. If anyone could help me with any suggestions as to the course of action i can take that would be great. And if anyone knows which fuse in the fuse box controls the fog lamps that would be great to know.. Thanks for the help in advance..

you prolly grounded one of those wires, and yes, it sounds like a blown fuse. especially if you were stripping wires. (why were you stripping wires anyway?) check the fuse box behind the coinbox on the knee panel. the plate has all the fuses labelled when you pull it out.

Thanks for the help.. The reason i was replacing the plug because it melted. I installed hyper white bulbs and the heat it produced melted the plug harness. I learned my lesson.. A word to the wise always use bulb grease esspecially if u r installing hyper whites. I replaced a blown fuse and its all good now. Thanks for all you help.. Happy Solara again :)..

It's not about the grease... You shouldn't have used high wattage bulbs if you are using stock harness.
