they are for looks they dont do anything at all gives it a RACER look :lol: :drinking:

They hold down your hood to prevent it from flying open and slamming into the windshield (typically used with carbon fiber hoods)

most what u see on the road with hood pins is for looks. An actual "track" or race car has them for simplicity and to drop a little weight.

lol i dont hate you man. im just messin with you. but seriously if you want a cf hood or hood pins go for it, but i dont think it's necesarrily a must have , you can save that money for something better.

Lets keep this one on topic guys. He didn't ask if people like carbon fiber hoods or not, he asked what are hood pins.

Hood pins are generally used for carbon fiber hoods. The carbon fiber can separate from the skeleton (where the latch attachs) and end up flying through a windshield (ask IcrazychrisI). Hood pins go through the top of the hood and bolt into the frame providing an extra level of support.

They are not fool proof - I'm pretty sure Paladin06Greg had his hood snap even with pins.

LOL well sorry about that then...no i really wasnt going to buy them. I just noticed them before and I figured they were for keeping the hood down going at high speeds and I was just making sure.
