I'm excited but I would not be able to install this until after my final exams. I have read here somewhere about squeeking problems. Should I use a different lubricant for the bushings or just go with what they provided?

Also, any of you want to share tips for a smoother installation? I would appreciate any input.

Hey,
Well i have done t rear sway bar installs, one on my solara and one on a friend's camry, and what i recommend is to buy some penetrating oil (wd-40 or something like that, there is another brand that a lot of people have been raving about but i'm not sure what it is) and spray the endlink nuts in advance and spray every other day or something like that. Getting the nut off requires using a hex wrench to keep the link from turning and then using another wrench to turn the bolt off, i found this to be the most difficult part of the install since when i did it the hex part of the endlink ended up getting rounded, when this happened i got the nut off by getting some small pliers and holding the part in place next to the rubber boot part on the outside of the link and then using the wrench to turn the nut off, but you have to be careful here not to damage the boot. When you get the 4 bolts (2 bolts on each side of the swaybar that hold it onto the car) and 2 nuts(one on each endlink) just slide the sway bar out, it's easier to slide it out from the right side of the car, and this might take some time too, you'll have to twist and turn the bar a bit to get it out, when you get the old bar off just slide the new one in also from the right side. If you want to make it even easier, you can unbold the back part of your exhaust, which will make removing the old sway bar out and installing the new one, but i think most people just did it with the exhaust bolted in. To solve the squeeking problem, as i grew tired of greasing and regreasing, i used some plumbers tape and wrapped it a few times around the sway bar where it would be inside the bushing, and then used some white litium grease and was bery generous with it, grease everything, the swaybar, bushing and the bracket. I did this about 6 months ago and no more squeeking. Before using the teflon plumbers tape i had to grease the bushing once every month or so. In order to completely install the sway bar the weight of the car has to be on the wheels so after you jack up the car and remove the old swaybar, slide in the new one and bolt in the 4 bolts and then you'll have to lower the car a bit to put some of the car's weight on the wheels to connect the endlinks to the swaybar (the link won't reach the swaybar with the car jacked up). Then just tighten all the bolts and nuts. Well hope this helps, sorry so long.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention, when i first installed the bar i had a clunking noise too, i checked and i didn't have the endlink bolts tightened enough so i tightened them and the noise went away for about a week, it came back but only when i went around turns. If you look at the oem sway, you'll notice that they have things on it that would keep them from shifting left and right, so i went to the store and bought some hose clamps that were big enough to go around the sway bar and i centered the swaybar and put 4 hose clamps on the bar one on each side of the bar next to the bracket and bushing so that it cannot move around. Well anyways this got rid of the noises from the sway bar, too bad i now have strut mount noises, but oh well they will be gone soon when i get my teins and tokicos.

I just installed the RSB today. I managed to install it in 45 minutes only, thanks to this forum's inputs and feedbacks about the installation.

The ride is so much stable when turning. I like it a lot! Definitely worth the price! Thanks again everyone!

It took me only about 30-40 minutes to install my rear sway bar too, so total time it took me to install both sway bars was 13 hours and 40 minutes. :D damn front sway bar.

From what I've read, for a daily driver, No. It'll stiffen up the ride too much and make the car break loose a little more. For pure performance then yes its worth it

I was always under the impression that a front sway bar would make our cars push like a dump truck. Even now my car will push through the corners when I drive it hard, and that's with good weight transfer to the outside front tire.

If you mate an aftermarket front sway bar with an aftermarket rear sway bar, the handling balance will be about the same as stock. At the same time, you will corner much flatter, which feels a lot better than the body lean that is inherent with the Solara. If you only add an aftermarket front sway bar, then you increase the car's natural tendency to understeer, which is definitely not good. As Yanks says, the front bar does stiffen up the ride somewhat. I have a Whiteline front bar and a TRD rear bar on TRACK setting, and I really like the combination. It can be a little firm on city streets, but it's great for highway driving.

I have the Whiteline Front Swaybar, cornering has never been more fun. Even though it produces understeer, but remember, the sway bar keep the drivewheels planted on the road so you do get more traction.

The car feels like it's on rail when cornering. (I corner at the tires' limit too :lol: )

It's also a bitch to install :(

Y'all, I just changed my RSB setting from Street to Track.

I prefer the Street, it handles corner more naturally,
where the Track tends to be a bit wild when cornering.
(the rear is more responsive => more oversteer).

I almost lost control of my Solara when turning since
the rear is a bit aggressive.

All I have to say, if you don't know what u r doing,
set it at Street setting.

I just ordered my TRD RSB and was wondering what tools are needed for the install. From reading other posts here, it looks like I'd be able to install myself (hopefully it isn't too hard).
Also is it possible to install without a jackstand? My driveway is about 2 inches higher than street level, would that be enough clearance to install without any problems?

I will probably attempt installation this weekend or next, hopefully the increased handling is as great as everyone says here.

I set it at track setting when I got it... Didn't want to set it at street because I know I know street settings won't be enough for me.
