Bad alternator....I think?

Ok, It just took me like two hours to get home because my car had died about 10 mins after I started it up and jumped on the highway. At first everything seemed to be ok until i noticed the clock and the gauges began to get very dim and then all the indicators on the dash lit up then the CEL came on. I dove to the next exit the car started to loose power and felt like it wanted to stall out but the car continued to run for about another 5mins or so then it died. I got a jump the car starts right back up with no problem but again the same problem happend after about 10mins of driving and I had to jump it again. 'on my second attempt I drive about two miles or so and it starts to die agian and out of no where the lights start to flicker a bit then they get bright as if there is nothing wrong but the cel is still on?? Im very confused.

honestly dude I think it is the alternator. I had a post up on sg about a similar problem in my buddy's Oldsmobile. the car would shake and shudder while driving and at a redlight the rpms would rev high and sometimes the engine woudl just die while sitting there, the lights would dim, everything.. and sometimes it seemed as if the engine was misfiring, it turned out it was a bad alternator. go check yours man. it could be it.

Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge. Have a few question's for you.

-Original Battery?

-Have you had the battery checked free at autobone?

-Clean & tight Terminals?

-Belts old? Possible slippage.

-Do you hear a whining when you drive under the hood when you drive? The pitch would range with what ever RPM your at.

-Anything you know of that could possibly be draining the battery while the car is on or off?

could be the blinker fluid. it might be draining a lot of power from your flux capacitor.. also make sure the connections are tight to, as the looser or not as fit as they should be, the more fluid gets drained. that might mess with your alternator..

Same battery here too. I experienced whining from my alternator on my Jeep before getting it checked out. It was in fact bad & I had it replaced. I would have the battery checked out first just to make sure that its square before resulting to taking your alternator off & having that checked out.

Change Your Blinker Fluid
http://www.geocities.com/changeyourblin ... luid1.html

honestly, blinker fluid does not exist..

it's either that. or could be bad battery but as you stated it seems like everything is alright with it.I still go with my first choice, alternator.
If all else fails, S15Lara could say blinker fluid (synthetic of course)..

maybe the flux capacitor but i'll have to get back to you on that..
