my "check engine" light came on last night, so i did a diagnostic and it came up saying:

"SAI system incorrect downstream flow detected" code- p1411

AND

"the PCM has determined that there is excessive flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system" code- p0402

anyone know what the problem could be? thanks in advance!!!

Excessive EGR flow could be caused by the EGR valve stuck open, a problem with the VSV which controls the EGR, it's vacuum or electrical circuit or control in the ECU. The EGR has a temperature sensor that reads the increase in temperature when the EGR is told to open. If the temp increase is not what it should be, in your car's case, it is going up too high indicating excessive flow, then it will set this code. My guess is that the EGR valve is sticking open.
