Torque Rods Available

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Tue Apr 10, 2007 4:07 pm

Some of you Toyota V6 people have been asking about the Torque rods I was selling up until about a year ago coming back into production. I spoke to my parts supplier today who says he can now order the hard to find part that put Torque rod production on hold over a year ago. So those of you interested will want to contact me if you want one. I plan on just a limited production run, based on how many people actually are interested and send the money. They will probably cost the same as before, $45 will include shipping to anywhere in the U.S.

So, for those newbees who are asking themselves "what the heck is a torque rod?": When you really get on the gas, especially when supercharged, our cars have a tendency to really rattle the front suspension, this is called "wheel hop". That's because the front tires are bouncing from all the torque twisting the engine and transmission (this is in simple terms). In order to minimize the twisting, you need to replace the shock absorber that is mounted next to the front exhaust manifold with a solid rod that still allows for a little movement so as not to cause vibration. This effectively stops wheel hop and not only do you not look like a dork when you take off hard, it is a lot easier on your suspension, engine mounts, and you can accellerate a lot better with a much more controlled hole shot. If interested, let me know soon.

install is relatively simple...took about 30 min. as said before.

There was some stiffness that I noticed in acceleration...it seemed like I gained more wheel hop as a result though, but that's probably just me since it's suppose to reduce that. All in all, a good upgrade for <$50.

I have one, i like it except for the klinkin' noise when i put the car in drive from park.
I still have my wheel hop when i'm at the track, but on the streets it feels way better than my dad Camry when i accelerate it.
A good mod for the price.
