Torque Rods

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:38 am

The torque rod is adjustable for a perfect fit. I suspect that if you have a "klinking" noise it may be because it needs some adjustment. As I recall, the Torque Rod does come with instructions in the tube it is sent in, however if you lost that the tutorial should make it easy since it is pretty obvious how to install it. Some people have put a couple pieces of rubber tube on each side of the flexable joint on the bottom to keep it centered but mine is installed without. I've never heard any noise and it has totally eliminated any wheel hop, though I also use a Whiteline front sway bar that helped with wheel hop too. The sway bar didn't eliminate all wheel hop, so I put in the Torque rod and now wheel hop is gone. Anyway, if you are interested, PM me. My initial order will be for 12, those that send money get theirs first, though there should be enough for everyone as I can order more parts. It takes about 2 weeks to get the parts I need, so you have a little time before I get my first shipment.

Payment?

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:40 am

The only form of payment I accept at this time is personal checks (which take a week to clear the bank) or a Money order or Cashier"s check for fastest delivery.

what tools is needed for installation? The wheel hop really annoy me too and would like to have this...

interested based on difficulty of installation...

(I installed my own springs and struts... is this enough mechanical ability to install this torque rod?)

Jim, general question: Is the rod suppose to have some "free-play" in it, revolving around that bearing or doesn't it matter?

Torque Rod Adjustment

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Apr 11, 2007 3:54 pm

On my car the torque rod is adjusted so that it does turn freely without tension on it. You can preload it either up or down if it helps reduce wheel hop, but mine has no tension and I get no wheel hop. Pre-tensioning may cause wear and vibration so I recommend against it unless it is done temporarily for a race. Keep in mind that the engine transmission assembly has the tendancy to rock backward under high accelleration. If that movement is too much you can break engine mounts, so the torque rod helps to prevent that too.
