Idle Issue

Postby Ollin » Sun Apr 15, 2007 8:09 pm

Ok, so my car is finally out of warranty so I wanted to start modding it. So I brought it to Matrix (in south Florida) a shop that a friend told me about so I install a short-ram on the car. The car runs better then ever and really picks up about 5k rpm. Three weeks later the car starts to idle real low about 200-350 rpm and shudders but doesn’t turn off. The Dealership said that I shouldn’t have done the install and wouldn’t even do a diagnostic which is all I wanted. I did notice a sensor that was just hanging out I am pretty sure it plugged into the air box. also it doesn't always do this. Any ideas I really am lost.

If there is sensor or anything hanging then you should instantly know thats not right. Regardless what after market parts you throw in. If a wire or sensor or something is left hanging, throw out that after market part.. Other then that take pictures or tell us more. It could be allot of things right now that causes low idle. Best guess is that you have an air leak around the intake area I am guessing. Get that sensor plug back in ASAP.

what did you have your friends shop do? We need to know what modifications you did. And regardless, that toyota dealership is a POS for not helping you out.

Have you tried taking it back to the shop that installed it? Looks like they slipped up somewhere or something got loose if all was good when you first got it back.....
