Custom sub box?

Postby cklinh » Tue Apr 17, 2007 7:31 pm

If someone can confirm for me that these would fit (Infinity Kappa 122.7w/124.7w (or Kappa Perfect?)):

Crutchfield Comparison

then I'm definitely in for this.

Yeah, I know, depth for sure would fit... but the opening seems to be larger for the infinity, easily modified?

Cool... I'll need about a week to decide on the sub, and then I'm DEFINITELY in.

Hey, I'm definitely in, and I want this ASAP.

How long does this usually take to make? I'll be driving through SoCal in mid-June, and can pick up then if necessary.

Can your guy start working on mine and I'll just let you know what size to cut out in a week or so?

I can pay now (the whole $325 if I have to, but prefer to make a partial payment now and complete payment when finished?)

I don't even care if we get enough people for the discounted price... but if we do, can we just use the extra for shipping?

Now... I just need to find a buyer for my existing sub system...

CK~ It takes about two-three days to complete. So if you will be picking up in June, we should wait until you decide on which sub...

OK, I thought it'd take longer than 2-3 days to make... since it's that quick, I might be able to have a friend pick this up for me a lot sooner than June...

Where in So Cal is this located?

Also, how much do you think shipping would be? I may just decide to have it shipped. If we can get it shipped for around $25, for a total of $350, I'd do it right away!!! (can you tell? I want this BAD)...

PS I've decided on the Infinity Kappa 124.7w Subwoofer, cutout diameter of 11 - 1/16 inches.

Ck, will check with the installer tomorrow (monday and get some more info) I guess it will be just our solaras with a custom box~

side note...is there a reason for the Infinity kappa, if you are going for one of those, I have an Image Dynamics IDQ12v4d2 that I will sell for cheap..

pm me if your interested.

I'm really ANAL about stupid things (OCD?), one of those stupid things is having things that match as much as possible (or a complete set)... so, I got the Infinity to match the Kappa 6x9's I just put in...

Yeah I know... stupid... I could have gotten way better equipment for about the same price, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little (or a lot) in quality to appease my brain...

And please do let me know after you speak with the installer... I'm ready to pay anytime.

Aotoyota,

Where/how did you install the amp?

I'm gathering materials for a basic amp rack and was just looking to compare ideas...

(I'm thinking of just mounting to a piece of carpeted wood that will be wedged between the back of the back seat and the opening to the trunk...)

cklinh - thats what i did, just measure from the lowest point behind the seat to about 1" above the opening. Cut it, drill some 'thru' holes for your wires to come up and thru then to the amp. It looks nice and takes up some wasted space...

im going a different route, rather the driver side corner is where my amps MIGHT be,

here is the system so far...

all alpine!
IVA-W205 when it gets here
KCA-300BT bluetooth box
KCE-422I ipod connector
PDX-4.150 4x150 amp
PDX-1.1000 1x1000 amp
Sirius
HD radio...

everything from the PDX down will go in the drivers side corner of the car
since those amplifiers can be stacked up...havent seen anyone do it here yet.

I thought about behind the seat thing too but wanted more stealth install and ability to fold seats down.

still waiting for the installer to call back...
