Xenon light

Xenon light

Postby uha1 » Wed Apr 18, 2007 1:28 pm

Hey guys,
first of all I am new in the forum. And I am so glad to have this web site for solara drivers. My baby is v6 stick shift black.
I am planning to get xenon head light. But I am kind of confused. There are a lot of xenon bulbs at ebay.com for just 10 bucks but also there are a lot of xenon kits starting at $100. Is there really that much diffrence. I was planning give a try to the cheap bulbs first.
what would your rencomendations be? I don't even know the diffrence between the simple bulbs and the kits?.. xenon kits, is that smthing I can install by myself also?
thanks,
Melan.

the bulbs are just regular bubls with a tint on them...get them if ur on a budget, but if u want a real NICE HID system, contact Mark (krawzyazn), i got my set from him, and he sells them pretty cheap these days.

If ur gonna do something, do it right.

Get the 5300K kits, anything higher than that, u wont see much light output.

welcome to SG.
I'd advise you to seek out your answers at HID forums (like HID planet; . these are your options:
1. Bulbs
2. Bulbs w/ upgrading headlight harness/wiring (this was the old skool SG guys did back in the day).
3. HID bulbs (rebased on our car application like yours would be H4/9003) with upgraded wiring harness - these are called your HID kits.
4. Projectors (this is best of the best, but then there are level of this best depending on what projector you buy). You can do this yourself or go to a place like xenon depot and they will do this for you for a PRICE!

But honestly, just lurke around HID forums and read/search learn.

the ebay ones you are looking at would be the "xenon" imitation but id say even hardly an imitation. they will not produce the same color or brightness as real xenon HID bulbs. which in some cases do start around 150 dollars.
if you are looking for just imitation id get the Nokya Artic White they give a white/blue look but wont light up as well as Sylvania silverstars.
(sidenote I am selling a pair for 15 dollars).

but in the long run halogen bulbs will lose their color/hue and brightness...

so i'd say the best bet to go for is to get real xenon HIDs. for a recent brand you should look to spend at least around 200+. McCulloch and Philips are pretty good and I say TechOne (the kind I have) is also good to but to each their own. Keep in mind if you go for real xenon HID, anything about 8000K is useless.
the higher the K, the more definite the color will be, but less light output will be given. at 5000K your lights will appear white, and 6000 it will be about blueish, then 8000K is blue/white but a little more blue than 6000K

i also recommend HIDs because it burns at a much lower wattage than halogen bulbs..
80/100 watt vs. 35/55 watt.

keep in mind that higher wattage bulbs for halogens you can risk melting the wiring harness so you might want to upgrade your harness if you want to get some higher wattage halogen bulbs just to be safe.

But as you stated u wanted cheap bulbs, but you get what you pay for. don't confuse a cheap price just as a good deal. those "xenon" halogen bulbs aren't really anything good in my opinion.

If interested i'd look into the nokya arctic white's, sylvania silverstars, or PIAA halogen bulbs if you aren't interested in getting xenon HIDs yet.

[ i do have a set of Nokya Arctic Whites for sale ]

hope this info helps a little bit.

and welcome to the forums.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.
