Tire Pressure for 225/40 R18

Postby TXSolaraSLE » Mon May 19, 2003 2:20 pm

I just got some Mille Miglia Evo5 18" wheels with Yokohama AVS ES100 225/40/ R18 tires. I'm worried about bending my wheels because i already kinda dented one on crappy austin streets win the first week i've had them. Does anybody have suggestions on what tire pressure to run. Also, what's a reliable place to get my front end alignment done?

Thanks,
Brian

Generally rule of thumb:
Use the tire pressure recommendation printed on the door AND
For ever 1 inch of rim diameter increase, add 2-3 psi

So you are looking at 4-6psi increase from stock 16" pressure.

It all depends on the manufactueres specs. The Toyo T1-s on 17" rims reccomend 36PSI, so anywhere in that range should be fine.

I use the exact same size tire and run at 40 PSI. No problems so far.

38 to 40 COLD psi. Make sure you measure and fill your tires after your car has sat overnight...or if you can't avoid it...less than 5 mins of driving in the morning.

valve stem replacement

Postby Guest » Tue May 20, 2003 7:54 am

Make sure they replace the valve stems while your getting your air changed. Otherwise, the fresh air will wear out prematurly. Toyota has a really good deal on this with a coupon! They will perform the air and valve stem change and replace the blinker fluid for $99. I just had mine done, and the car gained about 3-4 hp at the rear wheels. Always check the flyers that Toyota sends out, this $99 coupon is right there with the deriveter adjustment coupon.

Help

Postby Guest » Tue May 20, 2003 8:30 am

Does anybody know if I should get the headlights rotated when I do The air and valve stem change? I know my dealer recommend this every year or so. I'm starting to wonder if this dealer is ripping me off. I initially thought I got a good deal on my car when I paid only $6000. over sticker. My salesman was very honest and even he recommends this maintanence on my car. Please help I don't want my car to break while I still have 7 years left on the loan. BTW it's a 99 with minimal body damage and minor rust.

I think I could prolly replace the muffler belt myself, however, with the Toyota coupon it will only cost 59.95. Good deal as long as they are using genuine Toyota parts. Btw, be careful of the $99 air and valve change, the dealer is using smelly air and the tires don't appreciate this.

HMMM I sense a honda boy lirking on the forums. You don't need to change the air in the tires and it doesn't matter if the air is "smelly". Guest, Enough of your senseless posts or else they will be deleted. If you really want to contribute to the forum, become a member and then share your information.
