You will never get one common answer to this question! Depending on people's tastes and styles you will get different answers.

warm up for 5-7 minutes is too long!

ME: i usually, start the car, then go and get the newspaper from the driveway (either take out the trash/recycling), get in the car, remove my wallet and place it aside in the car, tune my radio and drive off (its like a minute or two max). The temp is close to that bottom bar of "C" by then.

Regardless of what you hear from me and others - its critical to keep your rpm's down till you reach optimal temps'

Personally I let it run for about 15 seconds and take it easy until it's warmed up... That way the other components of the car gets warmed up as well; no point in letting it run for 2 minutes if your steering system and whatnot are still room temp. cold IMHO.

i normally warm up my solara for 1 or 2 seconds, then drive.
i was told by someone who have driven vehicle 30 or 40 years, he said unless it is in a real cold weather like winter in maine, it is not necessory to warm up the vehicle.

I don't warm up my car at all. I turn it on, put the seatbelt on and go.

Most modern cars don't really need to warm up. It's why the auto's don't shift out of 2nd until the meter is above the C

agreed that it isn't necessary to warm up the car if you are easy on the throttle.

ThatVietGuy - the car actually stays in a lower gear to keep the RPMs up in order to warm up the emissions equipment (cat converter).

I warm up for at least 30 seconds. In cold weather, a bit longer depending on how cold.

Depends on weather as simple as it is. Warm days 30 seconds. Cold days 1 minute. On freezing days 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Should never need to go over that unless your running pure water in your radiator.

Winter: i warm up until that temp gauge is in the center which can take at least 10 minutes.
Summer: i dont even "warm up"
Fall: about 10 secs.. after I turn on the iPod in the car
Spring: same as summer, don't warm up at all..

Winter warm-up should be 1 minutes max...to get the oil get a normal temp. Even so, the time to "unsnow" the car...it takes me at least 1-2 minutes.

Summer I do a 30 second warm-up

the purpose here is to give time to fluid to make their job before going. It doesn't take long....old car with heavy iron engine were slower to warm-up
