Solara 2002 TRD springs and KYB struts HELP

Just had new TRD springs and KYB struts installed in my car. Now the rear wheels no longer fit, they rub on the top strut spring lip. Both the current Enkei Racing Series RP03 17X7 215/50/17 and the old stock 205/60/16 rub. Did my installer do something wrong ? Are KYB not a correct fit ? My installer now wants me to go out and replace the tires with 215/45/17 to fix this. I noticed on this site that some people have 18 on there car so I would think the 17s should fit Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

What is the offset of the rim? It must be between +38 to +42. If you know what you're doing, you could go as low as +35 and as high as +50. I'm betting your rims are less than +35.....

if its rubbing on the strut your rim offset is over 45 if it rubs the fender then your offset is lower then 35

I have the same set up and had 19X8 40 offset with out any problems

Thank you, Mark. I've got +35 and my rim is mm's away from my spring. You might be able to put a penny inbetween.

I guess that's what a 8.5" rim and 235 tire will do.....

iono.. he said his stockers rub too. so that might mean somthing else is f-ed up on his suspension.

Last night I started to research this issue. I came to the conclusion that there had to be something wrong with the install or the struts themselves.
A ton of others have the same setup with bigger rims and they fit..so why?

So I went onto KYB web site and looked up the part numbers to match up.
I turns out the auto parts dealer sold me Camry struts... not solara. This is why the tires didnt fit. It seems some of the parts lookup systems cross ref the camry KYB part number to the solara. Today I got the right part and the wheels fit now. The installer didnt notice that the struts were different so now I have to pay extra labor. At least the auto parts dealer accepted the return of the camry struts. Live an learn ...

Hopefully this listing will help someone else avoid this in the future.

hmm camry struts 97-01 fit the solara 99-03
92-96 camry might fit the solara also

The camry KYB strut did fit but the bottom spring plate on the rear is lower then solara KYB struts , this is why the tire rubed.

I believe the fronts from a 92-96 camry fit but not the rear... or maybe its the other way around, but I dont think all of it fits.
