HEADLIGHT CONVERSION Gen 1 - Gen 1.5

Postby SpeedySolara » Mon Apr 23, 2007 4:11 pm

OK I have a little issue. I have a 99 Solara with H4 headlight bulbs. Now that I have the 2003 bumper and headlights theres a problem, the gen 1.5 has 9005 & 9006 headlight bulbs. Converting the body is no problem, how do I convert the wiring so that it could be funcional with the 2003 headlights. I would appreciate anyones help. Thanks.

they make a harness that converts the H4 to 9006/9005 or you can make your own

Just solder the wires together, low to low, high to high, and ground to ground. It's pretty easy. Check out this conversion done on a Corolla, it's the same for us.

Well at one point I was interested in redesigning the Gen1.0 headlight bracket to have a projector low and a reflector high (kinda like the Gen2 design) and getting HIDs... Not to thread jack but out of curiosity, is there a way to have the low beams stay on when you flash your highs? I don't want to kill the HID by flashing the numerous amount of Fresh-Off-The-Boat idiots around here!

I believe its illegal to have the low beams on with the high beams but I am planning something similar anyway :)
