difference between a 1999 and 2000

I was wondering what the differences between a 1999 and 2000 solara were. I drove a friends 1999 SLE V6 auto (man the v6s are so much better, now i REALLY want one), and I know the stereo looks a little different....but is it basically the same as in 8 spkrs, 200 wats, jbl? Also I noticed the the gear stick lever thing (for lack of a better word) felt a little different, but I'm guessing the tranny hasnt changed either. Thanks

99 Stereo is sux, large button instead of multi soft button in 00.
I also notice that 00 has homelink.

but is the functionality of the stereo the same? does it still sound as good

00 sounds better imo, The bulky button w/ Large LCD does not look and sound good.
They don't even display the track time or number (one of that). :roll:

99 has homelink as well. ....Thats the garage opener thing right?

My 99' Solara SLE V-6 has homelink and also has the same quality stereo system as the 2000.

In all reality not much difference between the two. Same with 03 (except the front and back and different wheel locks and a few minor details)

My friend's 99 stereo, I don't think it's the premium one, but it sounds REALLY bad... and it only has Bass and Treble adjustments... no Mids. The bass sounds really distorted, even at lower volumes... maybe it's just aged badly, but yea... everything else was the same for the 99-01 except for the stereo change in 00.

wait, i have a 2000 and i dont have any mid adjustments, just low and high....im pretty sure i ahve the premium system though, my speakers are jbl and they sound great, no distortion

the model changed for 02.

99-01 is gen 1
02-03 is gen 1.5

i think the homelink consists of the buttons up on the roof near the front that u can program to open your garage, turn alarms on and off, open and close gates, etc. basically its a radio signal transmitter that you can program to transmit various signals so that you dont have to carry a a garage door opener, gate remote (but who has a gate anyways), etc

so the 99-01 have the old style lights in the back whereas the 02-03's have the altezza like lights? What are the differences in the front?
