Go with Injen or K&N. You could always wait for the Cattman Cold Air Intake. Try SEARCHing, youll find more details on what you want.

The Dragon intake, which I have, looks and sounds cool as heck. You will lose low-end torque. You also will want to be sure to take very good care of the filter. I have read of them getting torn apart due, according to a Weapon-R representative, to improper cleaning. I am pretty happy with it, but doing a search on intakes will offer you a better perspective :).

Weapon R is garbage. Do a search on here and even on Club Lexus and the Celica boards. You will see why.

I can't really say which is best because I only bought one  . After all the reading and research, I went with the RMM Intake. A little expensive but very good quality. I would rather have found a CAI but at the time, none existed. -Joe

You talking about the filter thing, or is there something more sinister going on? I have had mine in for like 35,000 miles without any troubles. Maybe these people didn't follow their maintenance schedule, which is pretty intensive versus a K&N style filter?

As to dyno numbers, I think we all established a while back that intakes are more or less cosmetic noisemakers anyway.

My buddy installed a weapon r intake on his Camry a few months ago and it is a big piece of crap. The filter and support bracket broke within a month. Now the sticker that came on it is bubbled up and cheap looking.

Heh. Sounds like if anything they have a major QA problem then. That is unfortunate about your friend’s part being crappy. It just seems odd to me that I have had no problems, yet others have. Maybe I am just lucky, because I certainly don’t doubt that these problems have occurred.

The foam media for a weapon R filter is what gives the problems. The filter is so pourous that it allows larger particles of dirt to pass through than a traditional cotton gauze filter like the K&N.

Allright, that makes sense. I may need to look into some other filters. Does this apply to all foam filters, or just Weapon-R?

Hey guys,
I have a RMM intake on mine. Seems to work very well except when the temperature changes. I live in the NorthEast and when the temperature drops or raises my check engine light comes on. I have to disconnect the battery and then I have no problem until the next tempeature change. I have to do this about five or six times a year. I installed it myself so I dont know if an expert can do anything about this, so I live with it.

I still don't know what to choose. I've had a Injen intake on my 240sx awhile back and that was pretty good, better torque and overall power. Another person I know has a weapon-r intake on his 200sx and that intake sounds mean. he hasn't had any problems with the intake yet and he said his car feels much faster then it was before with the stock. Is there a chip that i can buy for the solara yet? cuz i just lost to a Jetta VR6 with intake, exhaust and a chip. I lost by 1/2 car length and my car's all stock. he thought he'd kill me so i had to prove him wrong :D

If you're looking for performance, I don't think any of these intakes are very effective. I have an RMM, and I don't find it to be any better than the stock airbox. You might pick up a few hp on the high end, but you lose at least that much on the low end. From what I have read in various car magazine comparisons, Injen seems to provide the best benefits, although even those are minimal. Not worth the money, in my opinion. Go with CAI (if you can find one) or stick with the stock airbox, unless you just want the look of the short ram.

I don’t believe so. For starters Toyota doesn’t use chips :). From what I have read, unless you have a supercharger, or the like, aftermarket fuel controllers and whatnot aren’t really worth your money. I don’t know a lot them, but I have heard that the JET, Venom, etc. add-ons have really fouled up some ECUs. Maybe Flip would be more helpful? Also, maybe a new thread for this question? :)
