$180, then with labor and all that, I think the average price is like $800. Unless you can do it yourself.

I think you'll be fine with the fuel line, SAFCII and plugs. I just threw my pulley on without any supporting fuel or AFC mods and blew a knock sensor within 1/2 hour. Never replaced the blown knock sensor, I rewired at the ECU to run off the remaining "good" knock sensor for 2 years and never had another problem.

I would play around and get familiar with your SAFCII on the stock boost setting. Then, before you install the 5.5psi pulley, set it to run rich to keep those knock sensors alive. You can fine tune it, maybe bring it back a little leaner over the next few days.

^^^wouldn't say it'd be a necessity. All you'll have it for would be for monitoring.

@ 4lbs and Jims mod, you should be fine, just like ThatVietGuy said. But then again, people have blown them with that as well. Each car varies.

ditto.

when i used to be around here, most of the old guys came to this same conclusion.

simple ECU rewire.

I only had a Walbro 190, IK22's and I was fine.
Be sure to run premium fuel, I run 93, the highest I can find.
We have to run 10% ethanol.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

no need for an safc at 4psi for sure

all you would use it for is to lean it out to get more performance, not add fuel

injen plus ext will just make it leaner, leading to blowing a knock sensor. Knock sensors blow for a reason, its because something isnt right with the motor. Its been proven before with Simons car when he would run lean @ 5.5 and be just fine using a stock air box. learn as much as you can about 5.5 before jumping in. it isnt cheap.

Do it right or suffer the consequences. I'd be nice if the only thing that suffers are blown knock sensors, I'd be more worried about broken piston rings or like JoeB's case, missing chunks of pistons.

BTW, I've had 5.5 before and didnt feel the need for added risk since I track my car for hours at a time. Only get it if you are ready: ex: TUNED safc, at least 190walbro pump, perfect running motor that has good knock sensors. I remember that adding boost doesnt give the expected power as the bottleneck lies in the y-pipe and exhaust. Risal noted that he would get boost spikes past the certain pully he was running. In past discussions (myself included) it seems that the exhaust would get plugged and boost would somewhat "blow back" into the chambers or otherwise get plugged up.

Happy Boostings!

What Castro states is all relavant, but JoeB didn't crack is pistons by going to 5.5 or 6lbs. He cracked them by going to 7 and 8lbs. and finally doing a compression test as his track times remained the same with more boost. He was the guinea pig for all of us, realizing how weak our piston ring lands are.
