Lifetime Fuel filter!!

Lifetime Fuel filter!!

Postby axion » Sat May 24, 2003 11:05 am

I bought my 99 6cyl solara with 79000 and I have had most of the 60000 mile maintenance done on the car since then(the original owner did not take care of it :x) Anyway my Solara has 83000 miles on it now and I wanted to get the fuel filter replaced, So I took it to the dealer here in Northern CA. and the service writer told me that the Toyota Fuel filters last a lifetime and that they have never replaced a fuel filter on a toyota!!!

My question is do I need to have the Fuel filter replaced on my Solara?

Yes! These parts "should last the life of the car" but with any filter... the stuff that gets filtered clogs up. :D

It may be durable, but not clean!

I went to go buy another one (they gave me the wrong one the first time ), and the part guy said that it should last for the life of my car. I told him that i'd still feel more comfortable changing it. It's only 35 bucks.....i still have to make time to install it...

Flipside909 - It is a newly remodeled Toyota Dealer in Vacaville,CA

What is sad about the service writers comment regarding the fuel filter replacement is...He said with a straight face and I kind of chuckled, thinking that he was just joking around because I have been in there before with other vehicles and he has helped in the past!!! Also he has been working there for at least 4 years that I have been going there on and off for parts and service..but he was dead serious about the filter lasting the life of the car.

I am going to get this taken care of in the next couple weeks :D

Lithia is a large autogroup. That used to be Melody Toyota when they first opened.
