I recenly bought a used 2000 SLE V6. There are a number of aftermarket add-ons. I have been able to figure out what everything is except for this box. I thought it might be a cell phone antenna or a gargage door transmitter.

It is the black box to the right of the mirror.

Anybody know what this this is? Thanks.

Where are you from? It could be the equivalent to "EZ-Pass" that we have in NJ. I"m pretty sure it doesn't come on all SLEs, I've never seen it before

Remote starter was the first thing that came to mind as well.
Had a 99 Solara SE V6. Had a 06 Tacoma. Now I have a 2008 Camry SE V6

I'm in the baltimore/DC area. Its not MTAG (our equivilent of EZ-PASS). I discovered I do have a remote start which the dealer did not inform me of. It ties directly into the stock keyless entry (click lock 3 times) so I figured the box was not that. The dealer seemed to have no knowledge of the add-ons including the XM radio (which is cool since he didnt charge me for them). There is a verizon hand free kit in the car so I thought it may be some kind of cell antenae. Thanks for all the feedback.

what kind of keyless entry do you have? sounds like something aftermarket that the dealer installed. it's prolly an antennae for the remote start.

I have the standard toyota keyless entry. When I click lock 3 times on the remote the car starts. For this reason I didnt think it was for the remote start. I figured the starter used the same reciever as the keyless entry.

nope, especially since toyota doesn't make remote starters.
i agree with everyone else, methinks its for your remote starter.

i got a little black box in that same location on my 99' SLE and it has a little antenna comming out the right side of it. i thought it was the antenna for the radio since there isnt one attached to the car anyplace else.
