gauges question...

gauges question...

Postby woa_its_j3ff » Tue Jun 05, 2007 12:27 pm

im looking to get better looking gauges in my car ..
and yes I want to do it myself, to swap out my old gauges for newer/better gauges, is it hard? or is it almost like plug and play?
I do not have a gauge pod, i used gauge cups so accessing the gauges isn't very hard to do..

any info on this please let me know.
not sure if it's just a matter of cutting and reconnecting a few wires or what.

my 2 gauges I have right now are just A/F (wideband I think)
and voltmeter.

If you bought Dat's old gauges you dont have a wideband A/F Gauge.

You have a Narrowband gauge. Wide band gauges cost anywhere from $150.00 to $300.00 or more...

exhaust gas temperature, used for tuning...

if you dont know whether or not its a wideband, odds are its a narrowband...

A gauge generally has a sender that needs to be installed as well as wiring for power to the gauge itself as well as the lighting for the gauge. It isnt terribly difficult to do if you know which wires to tap, I had a triple gauge pod in my gen 3 camry.

Where did you get your white gauges from? I looked at the ones on ebay and they don't look the same. Thanks

Ok so guys today I receieved new gauges.
wideband , yes wideband and not narrowband AFR gauge.
As well as a new Voltmeter.
both by Autometer, if i just want to swap out the gauges, can the AFR be done? without tapping into the O2 sensor? can I just reconnect the wiring Red with red, black with balck, and the 02 line with the 02 line?
