"Amber" Fog Lights Pictures and Review

Postby cklinh » Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:11 pm

Had some time, so I went ahead and installed these today. Took me all of 45 minutes, which includes maneuvering the car in the garage.

Overall, I like them... now, I don't know how they will hold up to pebbles or rain, but assuming that's OK, I'd gladly give them 4 stars out of 5. If they were a bit cheaper, it'd definitely gain an extra half a star... I paid about $100 for them. The whole package comes with two fog assemblies, as well as two "normal" bulbs.

Now, the reason I got these is because my Yellow Tint Film is starting to look like this:

Image

The tiny bubbles are caught in between the fog light and the film... I'd assume there's no way to remove them. It's also starting to peel at the edge if you can see in the picture.

I went ahead and took some pictures comparing:

1) OEM w/ Yellow Tint vs. eBay "Amber" Fog Assemblies (uninstalled)
-edit: goddamn cardomain! left is the ebay fog, right is the oem w/ yellow stickercity tint film

Image

2) Yellow Tint w/ Yellow Bulb vs. eBay "Amber" w/ Yellow Bulb

Image

3) eBay "Amber" w/ Regular Bulb vs. eBay "Amber" w/ Yellow Bulb

Image

And the final installed picture (dang, I guess I forgot to take a picture with the lights off, but you can imagine with the first pic.) I'd say, you can hardly tell a difference between using a regular bulb and a nokya yellow bulb. I decided to leave the yellow bulb in until they burn out (since I paid for them and all :)

PS... I'm planning on getting rid of the yellow film on my OEM fogs and keeping the fogs as backup. Now, if anyone is interested in the yellow tint already installed (bearing in mind the flaws that you see, which are in BOTH assemblies), PM me. I'm not looking to make any money, but if you are interested, we can swap assemblies. (i.e., i'll send you the assemblies with the yellow film already installed, and you send me your OEM fog lights, we each pay our own shipping).

If no one is interested, the yellow film is coming off in the next few days, and the lights go into storage.

Biggie, it depends on what you want from the fog lights. If all you want is the yellow light, then the bulbs should be just fine.

I wanted the yellow look during the day too... so it's either the yellow tint from StickerCity for about $25, or the ebay fogs for about $100.

After the problems I had with the tint film (probably partially my fault... didn't install it correctly), I would gladly pay more for this.

They're actually around $105 after shipping... search on ebay for "Solara Amber Fog"

The seller doesn't have any up right now for that price, but he usually lists more.

This is the seller
