Wassup peoples! Well, I have a question maybe one of you veterans can answer.

Me and pete just got two new rebuilt alts. from the factory i think they was 80 amps now they are up to 160. When I was reading the reciept it said " I am not responsible for any fires/wires melting that may come from the higher out put of the alt ". So...... What precautionary steps can be taken to avoid this?
So me placing 10 inch rims on my car will make it handle better? Cool.

He said that they are bench tested and are worthy. But I guess he is just coverin his behind if anything "were" to happen. Im excited to see what happens. Especially any aftermarket alt is going to kick out more power than the factory alt. Think about it in the way when you add high power headlights like those 80/90 that everyone says it will melt your harness.

I have a jbl's 1200x1 and a 40x4 (bridged) and a 90x2. Now I took the precautionary meaures of adding another battery (Lightning Audio Strike LCB1200) and my shi* still blinks. So the only other altternative was to add a new alt. Hopefully with my new juice it shouldnt be a problem. I just dont want anything meltin.

the general rule is to keep it about 18 inches or less from the battery. The closer the better.

Here is a good reference guide for the power cable gauge selection, especially with the amount of current flowing through the system/car.
