Clear Corners - Legal?

Clear Corners - Legal?

Postby FLASH » Sun Jun 01, 2003 6:26 pm

I've always kind of wondered if clear corners will pass inspection. I've realized that all stock cars have some reflective oragne surface on them SOMEWHERE, making me realize that there must be a reason that no cars come with clear corners. Has anyone tried to pass inspection with clear corners?

Maybe the legality of the corners varies by state...so lets try to get some answers from varied states please!

LOL. Most guys on here are from CA and they don't have inspection. Laws do vary by state, but in NJ I am 100% you'll fail inspection. Chances are if you have amber bulbs you'll never have trouble with the cops because they won't even know what to look for. The inspection people will check your corners however. They are a very simple mod to add or remove so once every 2 years I switch back to stock.

For those who have no clue what I am talking about, in NJ we don't have to declare mods like you do in CA, but every 2 years (Used to be 1) we have to wait in long lines for state authorized places to look over our cars. They check to make sure your brakes work and that everything in your car is safe. Along with also looking for tint, clear corners and any other illegal things. Also they check to see if you car is too low and they check your headlights. You don't get tickets but you do get like a 30 day fix it period. If you don't fix it and wait in the long lines once again, you can get pulled over for expired inspection.

ok...in TX its all good...yes we have to have our state inspection updated every year, however they've passed me with clear corners, and hyper white bulbs and turn signals...so i guess its not too rough here in tx. the major worries for our inspection here is smog laws! L8r moe :evilbat:

Clear Corners are legal as they are dot/sae approved. BUT, cops only pull cars over when the bulb is not amber.

in Jersey the inspection law was just changed.......if your car is 2001 or newer, its now every 4 years for inspection, not every 2!
that makes me very excited since i now don't have to remove my tint that i paid a lot for!
i'll probably just end up buying an illegal sticker for like $100 anyway. $100 is less than i paid for the tint so i guess its worth it!

i live in chicago to, and we dont have any kind of yearly inspections just an emissions test every once and a while. i got the euros with a white bulb and never been pulled over yet. the color spectrum of the bulb can be between white and amber to be legal, no weird colors.

How recent was this change? I have a 2001 model Solara and I still have to bring it back in 2 years.

McGreevey's had it all over the radio. my mom got a notice (and a new sticker) about it right before her inspection was due for her 2001 accord.

Clear Corners are ILLEGAL, because when you buy them new, it does come with a paper indicating them to be used for "OFF ROAD USE ONLY", and that blah blah..that you will not hold (for example) proparts responsible for any accidents or citations with the law if these are mis-appropriately used.

I've had my clear's on my camry for two years and have the amber bulb set up in front......Last year I forgot to remove them while inspection, and they passed. The service station dude did tell me that my ligths set up could be illegal..I BS'ed and told him it was PIAA (even tho it wasn't) and that I can bring papers to prove that its street-legal, and he was like..I've got PIAA's on mine too...
