Yeah, I have heard that a lot of people have had problems with them. See discussion here --> http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=3730 My statements, are made only relating to the quality of the finish on the generic, to my current part. As, I have owned and installed both of them, for the same application, over the last 6 monthes I feel pretty comfortable judging apperances. I hope you intake works out for you, maybe I just got a bad one.

I have one of those ProCarParts intakes for my stock SLE-V6. I bought one Aug 2002 and I dont like it too much. My biggest problem with the intake is that my check engine light would keep turning on. I would reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and the car would be fine for a couple weeks and then the light would turn back on again. It's made out of polished aluminum so it won't take much for it to shine again. As for performance my car felt like it lost some bottom end and I don't know if there was any gain at all. It s a little too loud for my taste so I put the stock intake back on. By the way if you get one from ProCarParts it won't come with any instructions and you have to make the mounting bracket for it. If you need pictures of it I guess I can put it back on my car.

It is normal for lose low end power, you can't blame on procarparts. but i think its their crappy filter cause problems, but as long as you change the filter media to K&N, it should work fine.

He means to make a custom bracket is that to use a metal piece to hold the head of the pipe, so the pipe wont move around.
