Should I get a Solara

Should I get a Solara

Hey all... I was thinking about getting a Solara, the price is in my price range and all the features are amazing, but I am pregnant. Do you all recommend the Solara to pregnant women? Is it safe? Comfortable?
Would appreciate any feedback.

My wife loved riding in my Solara while she was pregnant. While pregnant, she drove a rented Solara (auto tranny, since she can't drive my manual) and loved that, too. The stock suspension is very soft, which makes it comfortable, even later in pregnancy.

The only problem might be after you have your baby. Having to deal with getting babies in and out of rear-facing carseats in a coupe is a bit of a hassle. The Solara isn't too bad, because the back seat is pretty roomy and the front passenger seat slides forward easily. Still, having to lift the baby out puts you in an awkward position. After our baby was born, I bought my wife a 4 door sedan (Infiniti G35), and life is so much easier now.

It's roomy, but Solara doesn't score that high in T-bone crashes...

Just a thing to think about.

humm....what do you guys think of the name "solara" for a baby

I think the solara would be awesome for BEING pregnant, just sucky after..but like i've said, i'll battle the carseat/2door thing for the car.

The only part that might be hard about getting out of the car is the heavy door, but unless your on a hill, i don't think it would be so bad.

Take my word for it; you'll be a whole lot less in love with your coupe once you have a baby. You can deal with it if you have to, but if you have a choice, a 4 door is a whole lot more convenient. I'm 6' 4", so I can reach in and lift the baby out of the back seat a lot more easily than most people, and I still think it's a huge pain in the butt. I almost never take the baby anywhere in the Solara, now that we have a sedan, too.

As for Solara as a baby's name, it just sounds too New Age to me. :)
