where did you hear this from? is it a DIY job? i dont think 800 will be enough for a auto-manu swap. parts alone is pricey.

Yeah seriously, that would take soo much money to do. It would be like trying to convert the Solara to a real wheel drive and putting the Supra's 3.0L Twin Turbo in there.

Not that I would do this, as I cannot drive a manual, but what if you could find a Solara that had been totaled and get all the parts for cheapish. If you could do all the work yourself it might not be that bad. Granted, I think you would need a hefty amount of mechanical knowledge, and skill, to pull this off. Really, if you want a manual you should start with one. Aren’t they generally cheaper anyway?

why don't you just trade in your solara for a manual tranny? :wink:
not worth the time/effort/money/frustration IMHO to change the whole car to a different tranny.

yeah, manual tranny's are generally cheaper (although there are a few exceptions)
