jpp y-pipe questions

So I'm thinking of buying a used older JPP y-pipe from someone I talked to recently. He told me he doesnt have it on his car as he was throwing a cel with it on, but he attributed it most likely to the high flow cat on there. This is the style I guess that they used to make that could be purchased separeately. I'm really thinking of getting it and just putting my factory cat on in the high flow one's spot, as from what I've read on here the real restriction is in the pipe and not the cat. What are people's opinions of this and with a regular cat will the likelihood of a cel decrease? He said it caused him to run pretty rich.

I also thought of maybe leaving the high flow unit on and finding a way to fool the o2 sensor but not totally sure how. I heard of URD selling a kit for that but no longer see any listings of such a product. What should I do?

My flex section leak is really annoying me and this pipe would be the best solution for me provided it wont give me tons of problems if theres a proper way to install it.

Leave the high flow cat on...URD sells an O2 simulator for like $60 (last time I checked) and it seems like a real easy hook up.

leave the high flow cat on there, buy the 02 sim from URD (that's where I got mine) and it's just a matter of splicing the wires at the ECU for the connection. It actually took my 02 simulator a while to kick in before it eliminated the CEL, it wasn't immediate, which is what I thought it would do. So if you do go that route, don't freak out that it doesn't work right away.

And yes, buy the pipe.

It should, but barely. I recently went and would've passed if it wasn't for the cat being gutted....

Yea I told a gen 2 I4 to do this worked great. Get 18mm anti-fowlers from the HELP section of auto zone, advance auto, ect. drill a 1/2 inch hole in 1 only 1 then thread the O2 sensor into the drilled anti fowler. Connect the two anti-fowlers and screw them back into the car.

You actually need to hookup an OBDII Scan tool to it to clear the code. If you don't have one it will clear on its own after so many engine starts when the problem is no longer existent.

Got the pipe and hoping to install once the simulator arrives. I guess the gaskest for these flanges are just the doughnut variety and nothing more?
