Toyota Engines Are Real Quiet

I installed my new 18" DR6 Drag Wheels (black) on Falken rubbers. The new shoes looks absolutely sick. Thanks to Rachel of nextmod.com for hooking me up with a sweet deal.

Solarheno popped by later on and sold me his Injen short air ram kit. I had the shop install the kit on the spot.

The Injen sounds exactly the way I want it too. Really nice tone. It practically sings when you rev her. My only complaint is that it's just not quite loud enough.

I'lll consider putting in a muffler later on - My ass is broke. I just bought the car two weeks ago - installed a new set of 18" wheels, bought the intake, getting it tinted on Saturday, and just put a deposit down on Tein springs and Tokico struts.

The only other thing I want to do is slightly darken my tail lights.

In a couple of years, I'll look to get the Kamineri body kit and repaint the whole car.

My wife's gonna kill me....

I'm guessing you didn't have time to read the agreement form when you signed up. It clearly states that solaraguy.org may cause a divorce and/or bankruptcy. It wouldn't be rare if both happened to you, its happened before. Remember, always browse SG in moderation.

They are quiet, but what if you are looking for the watery 350z kind of sound, low and powerful. where you can feel the rev in your chest. thats what i want.

probably need a few more cylinders for that :P

aftermarket suggestions for such an undertaking?

Quick Pics

Postby madrid2k » Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:11 pm

Here's a couple of quick pics of my new and improved Lara.

Apologies, she's a bit dirty after a rain shower. I'll take some proper pics later.

I installed 18" DR6 Drag Wheels last Thursday night.
I got her tinted 20% all around on Friday night.
Installed the Tein springs and Tokico struts on Saturday.

Here's my other rides: 2005 Honda Pilot EXL RES and a 2004 Yamaha V-star Custom. The Lara is taking the place of the Integra.

Can you tell I like black and chrome together!?! 8) I'm not going to chrome out the Lara though. I'm going to make her predominantly black - so she's nice and stealth like.

The chrome on the grille is flaking off, so I'm going to paint it all black. I also plan on tinting the tail lights. Nothing excessive, but darken it a bit, so the look is more cohesive with the rest of the car.

Once, I'm done, I'll take an updated picture of my three rides together.

Damn, I think I've got an obssessive compulsive disorder. I can't help myself. I always have to customize my rides. (Since this picture was taken, I've added more chrome to the V-star, put on some Kurakyn grips and slammed her.)

If that is what you want, then get a 350.

My brother's 03 Accord V6 is a lot more quieter than my Solara.

Quiet is a good thing sometimes in cars, you sure you want to change that?

Oh yeah!!

No doubt, the engine is very refined, which I do appreciate.

However, with the Injen intake, the Lara "sounds" more responsive. I feel more connected to the car.

Of course, I don't want anything too loud. (My V-star is loud enough for me already thanks.)

To me driving truly is a visceral experience. The more senses you can involve, the more engaging the drive is.

Nice looking why not get the aftermarket grille instead of painting it. I think it would go well on your car.

Yeah, eventually, I'll get the aftermarket grille.

But, right now, repainting the grille is a quick and cheap fix. I'm also curious as to how an all-black grille will look.

If I don't like it, I could repaint it or get the a/m grille from Renovo.

my 1mzfe is quiet, my 5sfe is not. the 2az is more quiet than the 5sfe IMO. I've not driven the 3mz to compare that with my 1mz.

I only had the problem of not knowing what rpm the car is the first week, after that I learned how to sense rpm by the vibration of the gas pedal. The car is really quiet, but I love it for that, I don't want to be driving around broadcasting the fact that I'm there.
