I just got a manual V6 solara. it's at 180Km
All fluids are ok, air filter is good. What should change or check if it needs to be changed?
I mean timing belt... how can i know if it was changed already or not? Fuel filter? im sure theres some more stuff.

I am also having trouble with my transmission... Sometimes it doesnt wanna go into gear 1... I have to put it back in neutral, release clutch and then try again. Same goes for reverse. Is there an adjustment i have to do or just live with it?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

only way to know if you need a belt is inspect it. at 180k most likely its due for a change , so you may as well spare yourself hassle and just change it.
transmission fluid too, is a must. flush it, and even better, have it checked, by a mech

Check everything. All filters/fluids/belts because you never know how it was cared for in its previous life with its previous owner. As far as the transmission problem: Try getting a transmission wash, pumping fluid through to "wash" it out, then replacing fluid & seals. If your lucky that will fix the problem, I hope you don't need a rebuild.

180Km....?

does that mean 180 thousand miles, or 180 thousand kilometer?

can't tell if you're in CA or USA.

if it's 180k kilometers, then i'm not sure exactly how many miles you're at.....but it can't be much worse than me (117k miles, also on a 1999)

if it's 180 thous MILES, then you want to check/change your timing belt for sure (even if it's been changed once before), also, check all fluid levels (which you probably have done), and listen to see if your strut bearings are going out (indicated by excessive noise when going over bumps, or hitting potholes).

engine sludge is always a concern with those older engines, but i'm personally not really sure how to go about diagnosing if you're afflicted (other than the feel of the car while driving).

and i have an automatic, so i can't help you with the transmission issue.

GOOD FIND on the manual V6 though, really they are pretty hard to find

welcome to sg
