Hi everyone, I picked up my new 2008 Solara SLE convertible yesterday from Huntington, Toyota (Long Island). Absolutely red with gray interior. HID, VSA, no NAV. Dealer is installing side molding and theft tracking. The car was built on 7/17. Dealer said it was one of the first 2008's delivered. Next thing I did when I got it home was to join Solaraguy.

This site was very helpful during my car search. I wanted a convertible and picked Solara over Mustang and G6 as I wanted Toyota quality with Lexus-like interior.

Any thoughts about Lojack vs Guidepoint? Is there a thread anywhere else that one of you can direct me to?

Image again...LOL

You might want to do some pic searching before putting the moulding on. It really interferes with the lines of the Solara. You might find that you really don't like the way it looks.

Welcome :D

I've never heard of guidepoint, what I have here in Cali is mobileguardian. It's funny there #1?? I've never heard of Frost & Sullivan. I guess it makes them look better if some company says they're #1. Well, after looking through some of the features of guidepoint, the only 2 things it doesn't do is remotely disable the vehicle and notify when someone hits a pre-set speed. Mobile Guardian doesn't have the onstar like feature. Both look like good systems. It's too bad they don't do side by side comparisons of the 2...I hate lojack, especially the early warning. I used to get several calls daily telling me the car is moving, when I look outside it's sitting in my driveway...POS!!!

Welcome aboard. I think you are the first 08 owner here on SG. Like yourself, I find the Toyota convertible interior to be very up grade from the other cars you noted. There has been more than one occassion, that my 06 convertible was thought to be a Lexus. Of course that mistake was made by people not so into cars. Post some pictures of your new ride.
