Favorite Feature of the Solara?

Let"s be realistic guys. Manual and Auto transmission, both have their advantages and inconvenients.
I owned both manual and auto cars, and found that manual is better than auto in terms of performance (manual allows you to control your ride). However in terms of comfort especially in city driving, auto is by far more comfortable than manual (if you take your car every dail in rush hour, you better go with an automatic. it spares you from shifting every 2 seconds).

I don't think any of these posts are serious. They're mostly tongue-in-cheek banter. I doubt that anyone disagrees with what you just said.

 Hey, there is a reason why auto is more expensive than manual tranny.
Remember, as Flip said, U got what u paid for.

I like how the Solara will not let you go past 4000 RPM's when it hasn't reach the operating temp. That protects the engine, great feature! Of course, that will only happen if you have an auto!

hey krooked, you bought your car from hertz? me too....did they sell it to you right around 28,000 miles. we actually got a pretty good deal, bought it in august 2001, and hte car was a 2000 with 28k on it, and we paid about 16 after tax,tag and title, so the orginal price was around 14.5. but of course it was a 4 cyl SE.

Well I have a 99 V6 SE auto, maybe they chaged it on model years. But in the mornings (especially cold ones) when the engine is cold if you try to take it above 4k it will shift gears rather than go up higher.

That is correct. It trys to keep it in an optimal range to warm it up. Around 2000-4000Rpms

My 2000 Solara SE
8pt Speaker JBL with 3in1deck. Drool. Still pounds the bass and music better then most stock systems i've heard. The stock 4cyc 135hp engine still kicks some power even at starting accerlation :o Came with the 15in Wheel/rim package too w00t w00t plus a sun/moon roof with wind deflector(took it off once a screwnut disppeared) :o I installed the Toyota security system also into my car by hand. Took like 2days since it was my first time to work on a car all bymyself. Pulling apart my car and knowing whats inside is cool :P

Pretty soon i'll start saving in and putting in the wrench time to buy some struts and lowering springs in early 2004 or late 2003. Maybe an intake kit but debating stick with the stock airbox since Phx, AZ floods at times when it happens to rain in one of those days and that it happens that one of your primary streets becomes a river and dare to try to cross it. Good bye :o But so far, I'm happy with its ride capabilities from the smoothness to the turning. Although one time my rear wheels locked on me when i was making a turn after i had it serviced...... :o Other then that... its sweet to get to know your first car that you can drive personally. :D
