So I was rotating my tires today and noticed they are all sorts of torn up. On the front tires the rubber on the inside edge of the tire is worn down way past the wear marks. More so on the passenger side. I have a feeling its due to my driving style lol. I have to drive 45min to work everyday and my job is way out in the country. So as you can imagine the back roads can get a little fun! Lots of 90deg. turns! I will admit I push my car pretty hard. I sometimes tend to push the car past its limits through those turns sliding the car and of course the tires break loose a bit. Despite my hard driving I defiantly properly maintain the car and I have not had any problems with it. (knock on wood) I definitely need new tires now but I'm going to try to wait three more months before I get new ones. I put the bad ones on the back and I'm defiantly going to take it easy for now on cause burning up tires is expensive. I think so far I got about 20k to 25k on the current tires. Anyway the question is what are some good tires I can replace these with that will have a little better life at a good cost? Right now I have 225/40/18 Kumho Ecsta SPT tires.

I was looking on ebay at tire packages and I havent heard of any of these brands which Im sure they all suck. But have any of you tried them and thought they were good? These are the brands Nexan, Nankang, Sumitomo. Toyo and Falkens but they cost more and Ive heard of them but do they wear pretty good?

Falkens treadwear on my Azenis is rated at 360 i believe... the 512s are a little lower but they last nontheless- very quiet as well.

Your driving style will cut the life of any tire short lol. Are those tires Z rated or H rated?

wow, I can't imagine how much those tires of yours would cost, I looked up H rated tires for the OEM size for my car and some of them cost over two hundred.

Try the General Exclaim UHPs. They have better treadwear than the SPTs (380 vs 320), are rated better in performance by tirerack users (#1 rated out of 45 of Ultra high performance summer tires, SPTs rated #6 of 45), Z rated as well...and cheaper than the SPTs (Only $81 vs $87 as of right now for 18s). As a bonus, these are acutally M+S rated, meaning they have been rated good enough to run in light mud and snow, if the need arises. This is very rare for summer tires, and keeps you from getting nervous if you still have your 18s on your car the first few days of winter.

I've been looking to try these myself after my 18's run down.

Well I guess I need to give these Kumho tires some better recognition. Back in May I hit a really bad pot hole in Cincinnati. It did slightly bend one of my rims which you can't hardly notice and it doesn't leak air. But anyway that must have threw my alignment off, because my tires to wear on the insides. I rotated my tires last week and I checked them today. I can already see the inside edge starting to wear in and I have babied the car since I rotated them. So I guess this Saturday I will take it in for an alignment. These tires truly do grip well and they did hold up well until the pot hole incident which was why I was surprised how messed up they have gotten. Either way driving 3months on them with the messed up alignment has screwed them up enough were I still have to replace them all. So I guess the Stockies are going back on after the alignment until I decide to budget some extra cash for new tires.

Just a note on that...the treadwear are not a universal scale. It is the manufacturer who choose to put this or that treadwear grade on their tires. In fact, the only thing they have to respect is to use logical grade. but they can start at 400 if they want and go thru 1000 if they want. If you want to compare treadwear, you have to go with same manufacturer tires.

With that said, General Exclaim UHPs are the best tire/$$$ you can afford. I never tried but there is a lot of positive post on TireRack.com

I've had General Exclaims on my 19's for the past couple months. They were like $500 on tirerack.com and the grip is very good. I bought them for the good treadwear rating. I'm very happy so far.
